Annual Meeting – Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 11AM – Fenn Farm

Dear Friends of Stockbridge,

As a beautiful late summer winds down in Town, it is a pleasure for me to write to you as President of the Stockbridge Land Trust.  We have had another productive year, and our all-volunteer Board continues to work hard and with many allies to preserve and enhance that which we all value about Stockbridge.  

Notably, this year we have been in conversation with the Housatonic Valley Association regarding their Follow the Forest initiative and how we can work with them alongside private and public landowners with existing conservation easements and potentially new projects to create contiguous forest corridors throughout various portions of Stockbridge.  Additionally, we are working with the State, the Town, the Stockbridge-Munsee Community, as well as conservation partners to ensure that land conservation on recent and upcoming land transactions and development projects are realized and facilitated.   

We are very grateful for your support of the Land Trust in past years, and we hope that you will continue that support by making an on-line membership donation at our website stockbridgelandtrust.org.  This year, we also have a limited supply of Land Trust merchandise – note cards, maps, hats, and decals – the sale of which also goes to support the work we do.  All available for sale on the Land Trust’s online store.

Annual Meeting Details

This year is a special year as the Land Trust will hold our annual meeting (open to members and the public) on Saturday, September 19th at 11:00 AM at Fenn Farm.  Fenn Farm is a 351-acre parcel of land on the northern tip of Monument Mountain that the Land Trust helped the Stockbridge-Munsee Community to acquire in 2023.  Besides very brief business at the meeting, we will hear from Shannon Holsey, Tribal Council President for the Stockbridge-Munsee Community.  Our rain date is Sunday the 20th at 11:00 AM (check this website or our Facebook and Instagram pages for any updates). 

Please note, this year’s location will require a short hike to our convening.  We strongly recommend you wear appropriate clothing and footwear for this event.

Directions to Fenn Farm

From Stockbridge:

1. Travel south on Route 7 from Main Street.
2. After you pass Ice Glen Road and the Chestnut Preserve on your left, take a right on Clark Road.
3. Once on Clark Road, take an immediate left onto Cherry Hill Road.
4. After traveling approximately .5 miles, at the top of the hill, bear left and continue on Cherry Hill Road.
5. After another .5 miles, you will come to a 3-way intersection between Cherry Hill Road, Castle Hill Road (to your right), and Skyfarm Road (to your left). Take a left on Skyfarm Road.
6. Travel .3 miles on Skyfarm Road, and park on the side of the road and follow the signage and/or volunteers to the walking path.

From Great Barrington:

1. Travel north on Route 7 from the Great Barrington/Stockbridge town line for approximately 1 mile and take a left on Clark Road.
2. Follow steps 3-6 above.

NOTE

• It is a .3 mile hike from the parking along Skyfarm Road to our convening location at Fenn Farm. It is largely a flat walk with the exception of a short hike and descent in the middle of the hike.
• We strongly recommend you wear long pants and hiking shoes, or well-healed sneakers.
• It will still be a bit buggy, so you may want to bring bug spray.
• Some chairs will be provided, but since we do not know if we will be able to accommodate everyone, if you have a small foldable chair or camp stool, you may want to bring one.

Parking

Parking (P left) is located along Skyfarm Road.

Spillover parking is available along the road at the 3-way intersection of Cherry Hill Road, Skyfarm Road, and Castle Hill Road.  Spillover parking is approximately .3 miles to the trailhead.
